I didn't realize people even needed to be told the things you've written here.

I think genre fiction is harder to write than literary fiction. Literary fiction seems to me to be about navel gazing. Genre fiction requires excellent story telling if it's to sell.

It's difficult to hold a reader's attention. Literary fiction authors don't seem to be overly concerned about the reader, though.

That's my impression, anyway. Perhaps it's reverse snobbery. I've read tens of thousands of books in my lifetime, and the ones that have meant the most to me have been "genre" fiction.

I'm glad you let literary snobs know that Kindles are probably OK. The unwashed masses love them! I've got several fancy electronic books waiting for me on mine right now.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10434590631700121559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8198415664685235178.post-20008242981235695332011-03-31T09:14:15.868-04:002011-03-31T09:14:15.868-04:00Very thoughtful post. This doesn't require a lot of money, but it probably means many trips to the local library!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
